The Beef

I have a problem with the kids shirts that come with a negative message - It is shirts like these that encourage attitude problems...yes, even in k-3rd graders. It flat out bugs me. It is one thing for an adult to make a conscious choice about the messages that they send out with what they wear - but you know that a 6 year old didn't buy him/herself a shirt like this. Why, why, why would you give your kid, who has enough problems as it is - a shirt that talked about not listening to you as the adult, not wanting to do anything but eat and play video games, hating his or her little sister or brother, skipping school, etc. Why encourage an attitude that welcomes being a bad student who is also aggressive and lacks integrity, pride and the will to have any trace of good character who is also willing to trade family members for money or a puppy? Just wondering.

I can't help you with this one. I'd never buy one of those slogan shirts. Most are just awful. My least favorite are the ones that sexualize little girls. Ugh.

I'm with you two. What really bothers me even more than the tee shirts are pants for little girls (or older girls) with words like "princess" or something written across the butt. It's one thing for a teenager to make a poor decision about what she wears, but for little kids its is exactly what Serina pointed out - sexualizing little girls. Shouldn't that be illegal?
